H.A.C.E. Presentation: Julia Budd

Mixed martial arts champion Julia "The Jewel" Budd came to our class yesterday to talk with students about her career as an athlete and as a student growing up on the Sunshine Coast. I have asked students to comment on something they may have learned from our discussion.

I really enjoyed her presentation. I found out that if you just stick with your dream you'll do something you'll love. I also learned that it is very scary right before the fight in MMA. I really wanted to go into a martial art group but I really think now it might be too much for me. I hope Julia will win her next fight GO JULIA! This was written by Jaeda.

I learned that Julia has to keep her cool during her fights and not get angry at the person she is fighting.

I learned that she has to do a "stare down" with her opponent a day before the match.

I learned that Julia was a kick boxer before she started doing MMA.

I learned that Julia had to do a lot of interviews before a match and have a certain weight.

We should not give up, and we should follow our dreams. Her special word is breathe. She is also really nice and she taught us a lot. The first fight she ever did she lost, and she wanted to give up but she didn't.

her presentation was pretty good and i wonder if she won any belts or anything like that. yeah. i wonder how many fights she's won and lost? she "MIGHT" have said that, said how many fights she's won and lost. i wish there could have been more videos but i guess there could only be one. wouldn't she find it distracting with all of the lights? you know because theres so many colourful lights that move. so yeah thats pretty much it! Julia was very inspirational because she really worked hard to accomplish her dream. Julia was a really good speech giver. And she really showed what it took to do what you wanna do. I'm happy that she came to our school and i think everybody benefited from her coming.

Julia's presentation was really inspirational. She told us to stick to our dreams and to never give up. I also learned that it is a little nerve racking before a fight. She was really nice and awesome. -Avery! ;0
